Baxter

Dialysis Training Platform on Web and VR

Improving accessibility and quality of training on Baxter's PRISMAX 2 dialysis device.

Overview

Cassette worked with Baxter to develop a 3Ddigital twin of their PRISMAX 2 dialysis device. Thetraining was hailed by Tameside Hospital, in a Financial Times article, for it’s positive impact.

The simulator is used to provide accessible trainingthrough an immersive web app and via VRheadsets, through a complete replication of themachines’ user interface, physicality, and functionality.

"The hospital says that the VR training has saved it time and money because nurses can learn more flexibly, in shorter periods of time, without having to take days off work for training."

— Financial Times, June 2024

The Challenge

Baxter offered complimentary on-site training for their PRISMAX2 dialysis devices, but healthcare professionals were frequently called away for emergencies. This traditional training approach wasted time and resources, while failing to provide education at times and locations convenient for busy medical staff.

The Solution

We developed a comprehensive training suite available through both VR headsets and web applications, featuring:

  • Complete replication of the machine's user interface, physical features, and functionality

  • 9 training modules

  • Available in 10 languages

  • 24/7 accessibility for hospital staff to train at their convenience
