CASSETTE PARTNERS WITH GOOGLE TO CREATE AN IMMERSIVE UNBOXING EXPERIENCE FOR CHROMEBOOK CUSTOMERS

Updated: May 27, 2021

PRESS RELEASE

Immersive technology studio, Cassette, has created a virtual unboxing experience for Google for the release of the new Acer Chromebook Spin 513.

Cassette’s creative concept is part of a bigger project from Google aimed at improving the unboxing experience and educating the customer on their new device in a more interactive and memorable way. Here they chose to replace the paper user guide with a virtual experience.

Accessed by scanning a QR code on the packaging, customers are taken to an immersive web experience in a virtually modeled apartment. The experience is made up of static panoramic images with interactive hotspots. These hotspots trigger animations or interactive demos which guide the user through useful features and functions of their new device. Users can choose from up to six languages: English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, and Dutch.

The experience was created on the Virtual View platform – Cassette's in-house product for immersive web experiences and went live in 13 countries in early May.

EDWARD WHITWELL, OPERATIONS DIRECTOR AT CASSETTE:

“WE KNOW THAT PEOPLE GENERALLY REMEMBER 70% OF WHAT THEY DO VERSUS 20% OF WHAT THEY READ. USING VIRTUAL VIEW WE ARE ENCOURAGING CHROMEBOOK CUSTOMERS TO LEARN ABOUT THE PRODUCT THROUGH ACTION, PROVIDING THE BEST PLATFORM FOR THE START OF THEIR CHROMEBOOK JOURNEY.
